Double Whammy of lettings at St Petersfield
Ask Developments has announced two new lettings for the new year at
its St Petersfield urban business quarter in Ashton-under-Lyne, Tameside. Two
companies – Shaw Trust and TNG - have both signed to take more than 8,000 sq
ft between them within the first phase, of which 22,000 sq ft is home to Pennine
Care NHS Trust’s headquarters.
Shaw Trust, a national charity that provides training and work opportunities
for disadvantaged and disabled people, has taken 4,598 sq ft of space on the
ground floor of the building, as part of the
Government's Pathways to Work programme to help people off benefits and into
work across Great Manchester East and West. The charity will be helping nearly
15,000 local people to make the break from benefits to work over three years
and will have eight staff based in the Ashton office, headed up by Area Employment
Manager Alyson Hall.
TNG is a national company that offers recruitment, bespoke training, consultancy,
mentoring and business support services to people returning to work and workforce
development.
It will take 3,770 sq ft of space over three floors within the rotunda at
the front of the building, overlooking the revamped Henry Square for its staff
of 14.
John Hughes, Development Director at Ask Developments said: “We are delighted
that both companies have selected St Petersfield for their centres. The scheme’s
sheer quality and excellent location is proving to be a premier choice for
companies looking to relocate or expand.”
Said Alyson Hall of Shaw Trust: “We are pleased to have St Petersfield as
our base for our work in the Ashton- under-Lyne area. It is one of seven centres
and a number of outreach sites which have been set up to bring the programme’s
opportunities to people’s doorsteps.
“Pathways is a powerful programme, which we are delivering with the support
of a number of expert partners, all of whom believe as we do that everyone
has the right to work. We bring a unique, innovative and client-centred approach
to the delivery of public services and it is important that people eager to
get back or into work, and the employers who need them, have easy access to
our services.”
Jonathan Baucher, Associate at lettings agent Cushman and Wakefield said:
“In this current market it is really pleasing to have two lettings within a
short space of time. This really highlights the confidence that people have
in the St Petersfield scheme and the area of Ashton.”
The St Petersfield development will provide 280,000 sq ft (26,012 sq m) of
high quality office space with retail and leisure amenity facilities totalling
400,000 sq ft (37,160 sq m).
Once complete, it has the capacity to sustain almost 2,000 jobs and will have
attracted private sector capital investment of over £42m.
The scheme is being delivered through a public/private sector partnership,
with £14.5m of Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA), English Partnerships
and ERDF money already committed to the 5.2-hectare (13-acre) site.
The recent lettings were undertaken by agents Lambert Smith Hampton and Cushman & Wakefield. |
